The culinary delights were equally impressive. We started with arancini featuring cremini, portobello, porcini, pecorino, and whipped ricotta. The flavours were rich and perfectly balanced. The spaghetti with beef and pork meatballs topped with pecorino was a hearty and satisfying dish, while the chicken Milanese with arugula, fennel, and celery provided a refreshing and light contrast.
Café ZUZU lives up to its legendary reputation. The famous Gusto house vino, always pouring at just $1 an ounce, is a steal and a testament to their commitment to quality and accessibility. Their mantra of "Don't limit happy to an hour, pour it all day long!" truly resonates.
A special mention goes to Fabian, whose warm hospitality and attentiveness made our visit truly memorable. His expertise in the wine selection added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. He recommended the 2022 Falanghina, a crisp and aromatic white wine with notes of green apple, pear, and a hint of citrus. It paired beautifully with our dishes and enhanced the overall dining experience. Fabian’s warm hospitality made us feel right at home. It was like pulling up a chair at your Nona’s place – cozy, welcoming, and filled with great conversation.
For dessert, we chose the torta, a decadent dark chocolate and crunchy hazelnut layer cake with mascarpone. It was the perfect sweet ending to our meal, with rich flavours and a delightful texture that left us wanting more.
